geomagnetic pulsations in the region of the south Atlantic

abstract = "The Earths magnetic field varies in time scales of long and short
periods, from seconds to millions of years. The variations with
less than five years are mainly due to external sources, arising
from the Sun-Earth interaction. The largest variations are
associated with the dynamics process within the Planet. The main
objective of this project is to study the characteristics of the
geomagnetic pulsations at different phases of the solar cycle, as
well as its relationship with the precipitation of charged
particles in the region near of the South Atlantic Magnetic
Anomaly (SAMA) center. The geomagnetic observations are carried
out by a fluxgate magnetometer (saturated nucleus) installed at
the Southern Space Observatory SSO/CRS/CCR/INPEMCT(29.42° S,
53.82° W, 488m a.s.l), in S{\~a}o Martinho da Serra, RS, Brazil.
The geomagnetic data are analyzed and compared with the pulsations
observed in other stations outside the SAMA region, with emphasis
for the geomagnetic station at the Vassouras Magnetic Observatory,
Vassouras, RJ, from the Brazilian National Observatory - ON/MCT.
Using a digital filtering, as a pass-band filter, with the
function that only analyzes the continuous pulsations, it is
detected the Pc5 (between 150-600 seconds and in the spectral
region of 1.0 - 10 mHz). We analyze the differences between the
geomagnetic variations observed in magnetically quiet days and
magnetically disturbed days and its relation with the Earths
Magnetic Field Intensity.",
